What the approach reveals is that for these people, parody is the beginning and end of their ideas. They're not trying to change society, they're trying to sell content to people who like to fantasize that slinging barbs and consuming parody is a theory of change.

1) As an authority, they appeal to a demo receptive to them (disgruntled libs/leftists); and 2) attack the portion of our polity that can be exaggerated, and has a sense of shame (Dems). This is why I think they're doing it. Whether it's fair, right, or will defeat Fascism is another story.
