A really small, but still confusing number of people have said, with the confidence of a kid who's smoked two joints talking to a kid who has smoked one, that the Internet Archive either destroys books, or does this process and THEN destroys the books, and that's such a weird wrong fact to believe.

Internet Archive@archive.org

We've been getting a lot of questions about how the Internet Archive digitizes books. The short answer: page by page, by hand. You may remember our viral 2021 video of Eliza Zhang scanning a book. That's still how we do it. Meet Eliza, and learn how we scan books: blog.archive.org/2021/02/09/m...

That said, the amount of people who've said a wrong thing about the Internet Archive, and I take the time to engage and say "not true" and then they go "wtf r u" and I tell them and they go "irrelevant" is also more than zero. So, I don't know, stay in school kids
