Quick shout-out to the guy who was talking to one of our patron services chatbots and calling it "shitbot" and constantly insulting it even after it asked not to, even though, in actual point, we don't use patron service chatbots and the stream of abuse was aimed at an actual person.

I once asked a chat agent to connect me with a human. I apologized as soon as they replied "I am real person. :)" Treating customer service with respect is one of my strongest values.

like ten years ago i used to work chats at a call center for a very shady web dropshipper and i got fired for telling a customer i was human and not a chatbot and politely asking them to keep the abuse to a minimum...its gotta be so much worse now for everyone involved

Just to be clear, I am epically angry about this. I see people screaming about how terrible archive customer service is because it took it them a few days to get back to them and meanwhile they are dealing with hundreds of people like this.

Do they operate on a script? I've definitely spoken to a customer agent who I thought might be a bot but in reality was a human with strictly scripted responses for everything. This is actually a lot worse.
