If you're looking at the new AI coded copies of some software, I'd really consider some open source alternatives that have been around for a long time. I know people give GIMP a lot of crap, but I've used it for years and have had great success. Same with Inkscape.

Inkscape saving to plain SVG is the underrated win. A file from 2008 still opens fine today, which few subscription design tools can promise for their own formats.
