Going live now with Those Were The Days! Come hang out with us and let's talk about our latest adventure into classic television! https://www.twitch.tv/thatstephenadams https://www.youtube.com/@thatstephenadams

I love a lot of bands, but there are few that matter to me as much as Jimmy Eat World. One minute your banging your head, and the next your tearing up at some beautiful melody. My goodness.

Being a teen and playing guitar: "Oh wow! You play guitar?! That's so cool!" Being an adult and playing guitar: "Meh. You guitar players are a dime a dozen"

There are few things that upset me more than the Cricut Design Center software. It follows almost no established UX patterns, gives you almost no info when something goes wrong, and is really just a giant piece of trash. I get excited to make something, and become instantly frustrated.

Just got my son his first pull list at the comic book store. I've been waiting for this day for a long time. He's pumped!

I finished the Norm Macdonald documentary on Netflix during lunch. We lost one of the good ones. Highly recommended, especially if you're a fan.

I do not like the phrase, "productive cough."

Asking AI why my name, Stephen, is pronounced wiht a V sound despite having a PH. It has to do with its journey from greek -> latin -> english. It also gave me this little nugget: "your name is something of a linguistic fossil." As if I needed to be reminded of the many different ways that I'm old

My cold has moved into my lungs. So now I'm that jolly old "cough every time I try to speak" phase. It's a great time. Not to mention the "every time I cough my head nearly explodes" feature.

“The internet is a store but it used to be a library” hits me like a slug to the chest

Seeing as Tesla made a "flying car," I feel like its only appropriate to revisit this gem www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXYj...

We’re celebrating KEEPER’s 1st birthday today! It was Oct 17, but the Unknowable experiences inexplicable time shifts now and again. 😉 We think it’s pretty special, and if you haven’t played, it’s a meditative journey with light puzzles to enjoy. https://doublefine.com/keeper

If you're looking at the new AI coded copies of some software, I'd really consider some open source alternatives that have been around for a long time. I know people give GIMP a lot of crap, but I've used it for years and have had great success. Same with Inkscape.

Watching some weather people talk about the hurricane path and I love how passive aggressive they are about the new AI models vs the traditional physics based models. They differ quite a bit. Meteorologist stopping just short of saying the AI model is "a load of malarkey" :D

If this hurricane could go somewhere else, that would be great. Where's that magic marker?

I'm not sure I'm ready for a world without Warner Bros. They were the first to bring us "talkies" way back in 1927. I'm gonna miss seeing that WB shield logo around. They had a good run.

I really thought the band Larkin Poe was named after two characters from Con-Air. Vince Larkin and Cameron Poe. Turns out I was wrong, and in a wild coincidence, the sisters have an ancestor named Larkin Poe. TIL, I guess.

I need a way to get as excited for my job as Bob Ross is to paint a landscape. I love what I do, but I'm envious of how genuinely surprised and delighted he gets by the stuff he puts in a painting. It's awesome.

What at time to be alive! A new episode of Those Were The Days is out and ready for your ears! It's also ready for your eyes. The video version is here and contains extra stuff.... like our faces. Head over to Youtube and drop us a like. It helps more than you think youtu.be/1odhKMh8MWs

CW: sad stuff Found out yesterday an incredible person I know passed away unexpectedly. We worked at church together. A light just went out in the world, that's for sure. Dude was the most giving, kind, friendly person. A true example of how to treat people. Tell people you love them, ya'll.

We're watching through all the Harry Potters again. I remember not liking Azkaban when I first saw it. I've grown to appreciate Alfonso Cuaron's visual style more and more over the years. There's still stuff I don't like, but it really is the most unique out of all of them.

Hermione didn't actually have to lie to protect Harry and Ron when the troll attacked in the bathroom. It's played like she's taking the fall, but all she really did was change the reason she was in the bathroom. Either way, the outcome is the same. Yeah, that thought really needed to go somewhere

I had such a good time recording Those Were The Days last night. It's been a while and it was such a welcome return. I have the best friends. The new one will be out on the feed soon, so subscribe wherever you get your podcasts! A review wouldn't hurt either ;)

Oh this was a fun one. I think I learned something about myself along way my9games.net/en

Test post for a thing! If you see it then it worked. If you don't see it...well this part of the message wouldn't be helpful.

Looks like Regal was paying attention to our show and picked the best movie from each Bond. You're welcome, Regal. If you didn't listen to Season 2 of the show, now might be a good time to check it out!

One of the big problems with Indiana Jones KOTCS was that they introduced all these new sidekicks nobody cared about. Nobody wanted to see crazy John Hurt rambling nonsense and swinging a didgeridoo. Shia was not the issue. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

We're here! I promise! And NEXT week Those Were The Days is back at it! Join us as we come back and talk about Season Premieres! Starting with a Series Premiere!! So fire up your Hulu/Disney+ and watch the very first episode of Law & Order. Then come back next week as we talk about it #classictv

When I was in my teens, I picked up Pure Disco volumes 1 and 2. I listened to those things on repeat. I think that tells you pretty much all you really need to know about me. Rollercoaster and Play That Funky Music are bangers.

Hi. I'm Stephen. I am "sipping coffee while enjoying a nice landscaping video on YouTube" years old.

News from Mojo: Passport to Adventure to be reimagined as a book

I really like the phrase "food stuffs"

Rise Against and Alkaline Trio just released a couple rad covers of each other. I love both bands, but Rise Against absolutely crushed this version of Private Eye. Holy cow. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO2u...

I'm born and raised in the South, and I have rarely if ever heard someone say "bless your heart" in the way other than genuine care. I'm pretty sure the "it's an insult" nonsense is completely overblown. Actual usage example, "Bless their heart, they're going through so much right now."

I can't remember how, but somehow I got signed up to Arnold Schwarzennegar's "Pump Club" email list. It's by far one of the best emails I get every week. At least on Monday. Monday, Arnold writes some positive, no-nonsense, good stuff and it really raises my spirits.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K

I have eaten far too many tacos on this Taco Tuesday. I know because I can't breathe.

I would like a Krispy Kreme donut. That's all. Thank you.

How did the Ninja Turtles grow up together and have totally different accents? Why is Raph the only one who sounds like he's from New York? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

I have such cool friends, and they are insanely skilled artists! Look at these sketches they did for me during Dragoncon aSwanNamedEmily AlexAndBirds @kcdstudios.bsky.social Vic Iddstar Hill

Slapped a new coat of paint on the ol' blog tonight. I found a sweet Hugo theme that really works better for the vibe I'm trying to put out there. themes.gohugo.io/themes/hugo-... www.thatstephenadams.com

My friend Charles and his family had a tree hit their house and their dog got hurt on the same weekend. It's been a tough season to say the least. If you have some spare cash laying around, they could really use it. gofund.me/c73e87058

I kind of miss when Apple had announcements in an actual room with actual attendees. There's just something boring about treating a pre-recorded video as a live event. I'm not as gadget-conscious as I used to be and I don't get that excited, but I still like to see what's happening.

Wrote up a little bit about my Dragon Con experience in my blog. I try to do this every year so I don't forget why I go and what a huge difference it makes for me creatively :) It's here if you want it! www.thatstephenadams.com/post/dragon-...

Welp! I forgot to un-brick my phone before I went to Dragon Con so i didn't post _anything_. What an amazing time it was, though! I can't tell you refreshing and fulfilling the whole event was. I have the best friends and I already can't wait to see them agian. You know who you are :)
