At least this'll make HackTheBox challenges easier But wow yeah, 9.2 and affects everything since PHP 5 is pretty bad

ETA for an update is Wednesday, October 21 at 14:00 UTC. If you don't understand what all this means, or if it affects your site, ask a technical friend who can help. You CANNOT afford to leave this unattended. Even if I am blowing this out of proportion, the risk is there and not worth ignoring.

Just in case anyone wants to subtweet, come into my replies, or QRT saying that I'm overreacting or sensationalising; when CERT themselves are saying "take it off the internet until you can patch it," that should tell you how serious this is. There have already been reports of it being exploited.

Worth adding: Wordfence told The Verge the fix can't be installed through automatic updates, so plan a manual patch. CERT-EU also advised isolating affected systems from public networks if patching isn't possible.

I don't use that sort of verbiage lightly, yeah. I wanted people to understand the severity, cause I don't usually do this kinda thing and folks know I'm at least in the loop with self-hosting stuff, even if I'm not an expert with the tech.

Wow, I just finished went out with my friend by taking a train shortly and came home quite late and saw this news from both websites? Like DeviantArt and fur affinity?

This broke IT containment quicker than anything I've seen in a long time. I had 2 clients contact me before noon. Granted, we were already in the process of updating an array of servers. Fun times ahead. Fun times.

To be fair this is bigger than just "tech support," with more and more people getting fed up with how corporations have shafted us and stripped our rights to be online. Furries have been trailblazing with self-hosting for a while so this info is essential for us to keep abreast on. 💝
