Rove engineered the smear campaign that lied and lied about Ann Richards, one of the most successful governors in Texas that led to Bush getting elected. He is not one to talk as he was one of the architects of these kind of politics and divisive rhetoric.

He didn't start it in the modern GOP and wasn't the only one doing it in the 00's. He did gleefully help accelerate it though.
