Sen. Tillis: “Anybody that’s advising the president that we should get rid of FEMA has clearly had no experience with disaster response.”

I am actually glad he is speaking the truth now. Maybe we should all be focusing on why it’s scary to speak up under Trump and do something to change it, instead of constantly being bitchy about it. Same with Murkowski - she told us she was scared and got nothing but grief for it.

Babbling Baboon Trump has NO IDEA who’s doing what in his cabinet because HE IS NOT THE COMMANDER IN CHEF! The swamp masters are telling the ministers what to do and when to do it and aren’t always keeping the monkey in the middle updated. Otherwise he would know WHO STOPPED UKRAINE SHIPMENTS!

Sickening BS about who is "advising" Trump. Everything Trump does is solely what he wants to do. And what he wants to do is solely based on what he thinks will personally benefit/enrich himself the most. No one is to blame for Trump's immoral, corrupt and criminal actions other than Trump himself.

The president cannot unilaterally abolish FEMA. It would require an act of Congress to repeal the laws that authorize FEMA. Even if a president wanted to “gut” FEMA, Congress controls the federal budget, so defunding FEMA would require congressional approval. He's a President, not a King!

Tillis better do more than yammer on to Yapper-Tapper. How about 25th Amendment? How many people need to die because of cuts to necessary services & care? How many communities need to suffer because the Fed gov is no longer stable & proving help? We pay taxes for a reason, not to help the rich.

FEMA is integral to state and local governments' efforts to develop emergency relief plans. They set guidelines and help communities plan. When an emergency happens they are crucial to coordination and to fill in where a community can not...

Senator Tillis, you and your Maga party don’t have a pony in this race. You don’t give a shit who’s hurt. You don’t care so you have no input that is valuable.

Exactly. Only Congress can abolish or defund federal agencies. The POTUS cannot unilaterally abolish FEMA. It would require an act of Congress to repeal the laws that authorize FEMA. Even if a president wanted to “gut” FEMA, Congress controls the federal budget.

In partial defense, I've followed Tillis (my senator) all throughout the Trump admin and he's not really hidden when he has a problem with stuff. He's folded way too often on too many things, but he did publicly oppose this bill before (at least publicly) deciding to not run again

maybe THOM you shouldnt have been such an asshole about net neutrality because that unleashed Musk and all this stupid horseshit. i told you so. literally. you brought this into being. *begrudging acknowledgement of recent actions. hissing the whole time*

I disagree. As much as my knee jerk reaction is to say the same, we are at a critical point and need to offer republicans an escape route. They still need to redeem themselves and actively join the pro-democracy fight and be vocal. History can decide how they are spoken about.

We only beat authoritarian takeover by getting 3.5% of Americans to stand up and speak out, so we HAVE to focus on addition to the collation. The No Kings rally showed we are about 1/3 the way there.

I invite anyone in congress/the house to come over and ride out what its actually like waiting for a hurricane and go through it. That includes some people in my home state of Florida who are so out of touch, it shows they've forgotten or never been through that kind of disaster.

It's Project 2025, and this is the point. To turn the US into a pile of ashes, where the 1% live happily ever after in their wealthy white enclaves, completely disconnected from what they've burned to the ground. They are not the people whose vacation homes are getting washed away by flash floods.

Amazing how this asshole finally starts telling the truth when he has no risk of losing an election. Of course this just means he’s known it all along and just hasn’t said anything for political convenience. Fuck him on the way out.

Is it President Loomer whispering in his ear or Sec Noem flipping her extensions & demanding 1st dibs on denying desperate people what they have paid for in taxes or is Trump just senile and cruel

Thom Tillis it is too late for your prayers, your were in a position to make a difference and you failed miserably, by sitting with your finger up you ass ignoring the oath you took. For the sake of all of us, resign in disgrace and go the hell away
