It's ok, the brains are leaving USA to fill the slots.

Tertible decision. Perhaps the government could clamp down on tax evasion, tax avoidance and close tax loopholes for companies and individuals? HMRC should collect taxes from those who have lawyers and accountants rather than just going after ordinary people? Humanities graduates strike again.

I live next door to this amazing scientific instrument. It brings academic and lay visitors from around the world. Its importance to UK science is significant.

This is also part of the cost which Britain pays to maintain its illusion that it is a key player in the world. China is showing us that soft power is the way to go, not wars started by the USA. .

There is an inherent sadness at the intended closure of Jodrell Bank. But it's also sad that while its use has led to massive advances in technological development, the contribution it's made to human perception of reality remains avoided. We could have learned far more to counter current errors.

Closure of Jodrell Bank would diminish science & research in the UK. It's being considered, not because the work it does is any less important, but simply due to a funding crisis. I'd also take it quite personally as I once had a very enjoyable school trip there & subsequently took my own kids.
