Sadly the left is so disorganised that if the Water Charges were happening today we'd be seeing the far right leading the protests. The failure here is the lack of grass roots organisation by the left which means we can offer no leadership to channel people's anger, so opportunists simply jump in.

the left shouldn't give any attention to far-right protesters who are making regular people struggle way more during a crisis and who are blaming the fuel costs on lgbtq people

The Gilets Jaunes protests in France in 2018 were not so different. At first there was a strong far right element, but as it went on the demands became much more about democracy, equality and fair pay. And the Citizen Convention on climate that followed was very progressive in its propositions.

maybe not. but it may be worth a try. also the self (or media?) selected 'leaders' may not represent all the protestors nor their demands. is it just about fuel, or accumulated grievances for instance. not shortage of those with this particular gvt.

Fuel for certain business sectors. Others have decided to tag on all other problems in society- and we have many. Except this isn’t going to resolve them.

The Left need to steer well clear of this protest. Many of the leaders and supporters are the kind that cheer on the burning of asylum centres and targeting of LGBTQ people. They can get in the sea.
