If humans had somehow evolved on Mars, we'd be desperately trying to colonize Earth, because it's such a beautiful, amazing planet. Instead of investing so much thought and energy in getting to Mars, we ought to reflect upon how we can save our own planet.

This is Artemis II image ART002-E-023314, taken by the Crew on 2 April 2026 from a distance of 70,000 km. Much of Earth is in darkness, but the view encompasses the west coast of South America into the Amazon. This image is in the Artemis II Preliminary Lunar Science Report—more on that tomorrow.

When you look at earth and all its beauty, why are we here? What do we do in the advancement of space. It’s our only home, yet we treat the planet with complete disregard for our actions. I hope humanity awakens from our darkness one morning.
