"Writing partners Samit and Hernandez are known for their work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Mutant Mayhem, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Addams Family 2 and the Disney+/Lucasfilm special Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy." My older thread:

"Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Lewis Pullman will play a character named Starburst, the sun of Queen Vespa (Zuniga) and Lone Starr (Bill Pullman). The actor's father starred in the original as the dashing Lone Starr, and will reprise the role."

"Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis are set to reprise their respective roles as Lone Starr and Dark Helmet in the new Spaceballs movie from Amazon MGM Studios, with Keke Palmer (One of Them Days) joining the cast, sources tell Deadline." RICK MORANIS IS BACK!! 🤯🤯

"It's surreal because I grew up with Spaceballs and when the movie was prophesized in the first film, when Yogurt says, "God willing, we'll all meet again in Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money," I, like everyone else, was just anticipating that that would happen sooner than 40 years later."

“[My phone] hasn’t rung yet, so I have to come here and just say it,” Finn actor John Boyega says during a panel at Dragon Con. “So, they could pick up the phone and give me a call. Let me make Spaceballs legit.” 😁

Production on Spaceballs 2 has now officially begun. And they released a photo from the table read, just like Lucasfilm did for The Force Awakens (2015). 😁

Spaceballs : The Slate First look at a Spaceballs 2 spaceship (no, I don't know but why not ☝️)

Imagine Features President Jeb Brody: “‘Spaceballs’ is all about joy and and silliness.”

Spaceballs 2 has wrapped filming. Josh Gad: “3 years ago, I called Mel Brooks with an idea for a film forty years in the making. I could not believe he said yes. But more importantly, I cannot believe that we actually got to make it.” www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=...

“We've been wanting to do that forever and we never knew whether we could get the chance or not. And so doing it on a movie like Spaceballs 2 was just like, ‘What simulation … what world are we in right now?’ “

About Rick Moranis return in Spaceballs 2: Mel Brooks: "I said, “Look, do you want to go to your grave without ever coming back to show business again in any way?” Then I said, “This is the way. This is the only way. Spaceballs, Dark Helmet — that’s your re-entrance.” I got him to do it. He’s..."

"...never been better. He’s even better than in the first edition. He’s so good. He’s a strange, wonderful, lovely guy and a very talented comic."

April 2027 😎

The new Spaceballs movie is logically called Spaceballs: The New One.

😁

"The narrator of footage previewed tonight teased, “Space: dark, cold, infinite. A universe filled with heroes and villains where the fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of the few, and blasters go pew-pew-pew.”

Josh Gad: "The inspiration for it was really this idea of looking backwards. Why do we look backwards so much and how can we use that as a catalyst to tell a new Spaceballs story that comments on the state of cinema, writ large, and also Star Wars?"

"Basically, Gad’s idea was that because science fiction and filmmaking in general have changed so much in the past 40 years, Spaceballs was the perfect vehicle to catch everyone up."

"In maybe the best moment of the panel, the team revealed that Spaceballs would be the first film in a cinematic universe called the Almighty Schwartz Saga, aka the ASS. They even revealed plans for an ASSwhole with a massive selection of screens that went by so fast, we couldn’t catch them all."

Awesome 🤣

Gad: "This movie is really a love letter to [John Candy]. I am not playing Barf in this movie. I am playing a new mog in our movie. John is at the beating heart of this film and the reason why this movie has so much heart. I hope when you see it you will agree.”

"At first, returning star Rick Moranis, aka Dark Helmet, could not be found in the room, until the camera, following suited up astronauts combing through the crowd, quite literally, discovered him disguised in a group of fans wearing the character’s helmet."

"[Mel Brooks] was only required to read the lines in a recording booth, not dive around on set in a laser-sword battle while wearing gold makeup." Josh Gad: “Part of the idea was we didn't want to kill a 99-year-old man. We really felt that was important." Fair.
