If you're wondering why LA should have a BART-like heavy metro system instead of a mostly light rail one, the A Line is 57.7 miles long and takes 2 hours and 12 minutes. Here it is at scale with the entirety of the Paris Metro system!

I've been wondering if splitting the A line in half at union station is a good idea, then having an express service run from major stops across the entire alignment

Most onfuriating thing about the A line is that they have a long buffer period to change drivers at Union station. God forbid someone want to go from south of Union station to north of Union station in a reasonable amount of time

The argument about the A Line’s end-to-end travel times baffles me. Few people go all the way from Long Beach to Pomona. Heck, WMATA’s Silver Line is heavy rail and is nearly as long and is over an hour end-to-end. Doubt many passengers are traveling from Largo, Md all the way out to Ashburn, VA.

The figure reflect weighted density (aka "experienced density"), so the density of each square is weighted by the relative population of that square, so OC shouldn't bring it down too much.
