That journalists continue to be blind to how their behavior has impacted their field and the public trust is pretty telling. When you boil it down, it seems pretty clear that the main issue many alleged journos have with folks like Bari, Nick, etc., is their independent success.

My impulse is to laugh at the idea of Nick Shirley being framed as a journalist but then I’m struck with terror thinking of the apparently huge audience who believes he’s not only credible but even capable?! Truly scary. No wonder we’re in the position we’re in today.

It is really unfortunate that some guy with a telephone camera and an social media account can make unfounded accusations and claims about subjects that he or she knows nothing about, and people believe them over the mainstream media. That is not journalism.

I’m waiting for the point when people will realize the usefulness of professionals who try to take an unbiased approach and can vet things. Jon Stewart was talking to two guys about how powerful a video is. Well, when you can easily fake them, that’s a big problem.

No doubt there's always been these on the fringes so-called investigative journalists. Many of them for the longest time decades ago, would use "anonymous sources" and they would set up surveillance hidden and get videos of somebody talking about a subject and use it and twist it. Nothing new here
