I'm looking at fully featured linux backup solutions (snapshots, deduplication,..) for my laptop and move away from "occasionally moving files in my home directory to Google Drive". The tools I've looked at are : rsnapshot, kopia, BorgBackup, restic, Bupstash. I think I'm gonna go with BorgBackup.

I'm gonna store the backup on a VPS I have. The pluses of BorgBackup: + 10+ years project, still updated + fully featured (including deduplication) + GUI option possible + memory efficient (I have a tiny VPS)

The minuses of BorkBackup: - pricier if I want to pay a host for storage (because it requires SSH) - needs python and the tool installed to retrieve from backup (can't extract a file in a pinch) - there is a better v2 on the horizon that will require to rebuild the backup from scratch
