It’s true that AI is leading to increased software output—whenever I have a need for specific software I find like 3 separate vibe-coded abandoned code repositories with all files from like 4 months ago and it’s very shiny and doesn’t work at all.

In my mind, this is the age of personal software: I get what *I* need without searching for a (frequently questionable) match on the Net. I know that there are downsides of having a lot of one-off programs but sometimes it is just easier.
