Multiple different kinds of colonialism! William of Orange did invade because the English crown was the wrong flavour of Christian, and then several centuries of home-grown British bullshit putting the boot in.

Yep, and ironically he never was our king, just the steward... Which was largely held by that family for a long time and eventually made hereditary, and then also royalty, but not back then, just a prince. And married to his niece, of course.
