RIP to an incredible actor, Alfred Bester is one of my all time favorite Lawful Evil villains

Jesse Thorn@jessethorn.bsky.social

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

I am attempting to speed run building and painting a new legio for #AdeptusTitanicus. Nearly finished the first two warhounds for the Gore Crows, pending some more basing bits. #paintingWarhammer #nerdlings #warhammerCommunity

Tiamat, my darling cat, has had to have some teeth taken out. She is fortunately doing well at the moment, and has bounced back very quickly after her surgery. As much as she loves her kibble, she is very excited about the prospect of having only wet food for at least the next month though.

I am going to start appending this to my emails

Rohini Lakshané@rohini.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy

Because eMudhra is in the news, I am sharing a screenie of a footer of an email I once received from them in reply to my query about my PAN card (a government-issue tax identity and card).

The Morkanaut is finished, rounding out #orktober. Now just proper photos and the write up. #paintingWarhammer #warhammerCommunity #nerdlings

We approach the end of #orktober, and the Morkanaut is one doodad hunt and a good highlighting session away from being complete. Tonight I painted the crew, which gives me a lovely little vignette on the top. #paintingWarhammmer #warhammerCommunity #nerdlings #warhammer40k #orks

There is no greater betrayal than an otherwise reliable and interesting small retailer shipping things out with Evri. There are few things that make me more reluctant to order again, but I guess that puts me in the minority.

The USS Hucknall Master Systems Display for my #StarTrekAdventures #rpg game is now complete, and just in time. There's some fun easter eggs in it, and I had a blast working on it. #ttrpg #illustration

The USS Hucknall Master Systems Display for my #StarTrekAdventures game I'm starting tomorrow is nearly complete. It's been a real labour of love, and a lovely way to get myself out of a bit of an illustrative funk. #ttrpg #starTrek #illustration #rpg

The USS Hucknall master systems display is nearing completion. I hope my players in my Star Trek adventures game appreciate the work I’ve put into this. I need to figure out some Easter eggs to hide in the ship though. #rpg #starTrek #starTrekAdventures

I am preparing for a new Star Trek Adventures game with a custom starship: the USS Hucknall, a Mercia-class rapid response diplomatic courier. What if you smushed four nacelles onto a Sovereign saucer, and then gave it a big hump to contain the biggest arbouretum in the fleet?

My RPG group will have been running for six years next month, which feels wild to me. I have been blessed to have had such a great group of players (and at times GMs, as @shinygames.uk has taken the reins at point points) for so long.

In rough order, we started playing Star Trek, then Runequest, then Star Trek, then Orbital Blues, then Cyberpunk Red, then Expanse (in Traveller), then Best Left Buried, then back to Runequest, then a custom system, then Runequest again, and now more Star Trek.

My work on my #Orktober project is coming to a middle. I have done most of the red and hazard striped panels now. Soon I will need to break out the enamels for rust effects. #nerdlings #warhammerCommunity #paintingWarhammer #warhammer40k

#Orktober continues even when I should be sleeping #nerdlings #warhammerCommunity #paintingWarhammer #warhammer40k

Should I have gone to bed an hour ago? Yes. Did I instead start painting in some of the details? Also, yes. It was absolutely worth it though to help push past my fear that I had painted too many bits red. Next step: hazard stripes.

The ‘orkanauts have received their first coats of paint. Always a great step in a conversion, when you get to start to see the shape the model will take. #nerdlings #warhammerCommunity #warhammer40k #orks #paintingWarhammer #orktober

I have the first non-airbrushed layers down, they are going to be more painted than the stompa but I am enjoying where the models are taking me.

A couple of days ago, some Jehovah’s Witnesses knocked on my door and asked if I would like to talk. I was in a good mood so I entertained them for a while, and the conversation was generally uneventful (I don’t think they were quite prepared for anyone actually wanting to talk) one thing stood out:

We danced around the discussion of removing the environment that drives people to crime for a little while and then he changed track and tried to convince me about intelligent design for a little bit before admitting that actually he wasn’t here to talk, just proselytise, excused himself and left.

I should note that despite having repeatedly offered him to come inside for a cup of tea, this entire conversation happened on my doorstep, which maybe should have been been a sign that he was not really interested in actual conversation.

He asked me how would I feel if someone stole Tiamat and hurt her. And dear reader, something must have changed in my face because he looked scared as I said “I would want them hunted to the ends of the Earth, for them to be burnt and all memory of them stricken”

To which he replied “That’s a little old Testament, don’t you think?” But I also said that that would’t be a basis for fair justice, and that’s why we don’t let the victim choose the punishment. Punishment doesn’t stop the crime happening again, because it doesn’t address why the crime happened.

For about 10 minutes, he tried to corner me on the idea of justice. There must be some source of universal right and wrong because otherwise different people will have different ideas and how do you make those work together? And then he saw my cat, Tiamat.

The Morkanaut is complete! Significantly uprated from the core kit, the kustom mega blasta has moved up to the top, giving it two arms to pick up and grab interesting scrap for the mek. #orktober #nerdlings #warhammerCommunity #warhammer40k

Orktober continues apace. The Gorkanaut is (final greebling aside) complete. The Morkanaut build has started, and I've finished the motion platform, rebuilt the engine to look mekier, and started on some of the more incidental detail. #nerdlings #warhammerCommunity #orks #orktober #warhammer40k

I've been trying to record some of my work on the orkanauts, but going through some of the footage, I'm having to confront the fact that my hands shake a lot. Like, I don't see it, day to day, but it's inescapable in video.

(The lighting is also messed up, the framing is bad, and the camera shakes because the mounting is cheap, but those are much more fixable problems)

It is October which means Orktober! This is part one of my Orktober project. #nerdlings #warhammerCommunity #orktober

It's been so exciting watching this come together. The cover is pure madness of the best kind, and the game inside it is incredible.
