I never pay for extra insurance with rental cars because I have my own yearly policy which covers the excess. I didn't pay enough attention when picking up a rental car today and opted for not paying extra and now I'm reading the documents I see the maximum I would need to pay is €23,000 😱😱😱😱

My yearly policy covers up to €7k so I have a €16k gap. I've already driven the car so I now cannot change the insurance with the rental company or take any extra insurance. I'm stuck with a possible €16k bill hanging over me if I total the car in the next two weeks. Wish me luck!
