Andrej Karpathy is worried about keeping up with software engineering practices

One of the big issues that most people don't think about when it comes to exponential growth curves is that things get faster and faster just before the Technological Singularity. Things now are as slow as they are ever GOING to be. They will be faster tomorrow.

maybe. i keep thinking about how exponential curves don’t exist in nature, only logistic curves and i don’t think we’ve seen that disproven in AI either, we just have had a series of logistic curves that we’ve used to get the appearance of super exponential growth

Indeed. I've been programming for ~25 years and just within 2025 everything got turned upside down and inside out. Starting a big project now without the use of "AI", already seems like a horrible idea to me. And the tools and workflows we use today will probably be obsolete within a year.

3 months from now: "You mean you haven't tried Claude Code Teams yet? It's better than outsourcing a whole department to India." "Oh, that was surpassed by Gemini Swarm last week -- only available on Pro Platinum++ plans though."

DYK: BigTech has started reporting metrics such as Accepted Completions and has AI-assisted coding modules during interviews. Which is to say, BigTech is already actively filtering out those that can't adapt.

I mean I basically just use Claude Code and the GitHub MCP server and I feel that's been extremely effective, I don't think people really need to be on the bleeding edge of agent harnesses to keep up, actually

If they can't be solved with that much, the problem is usually actually that I didn't bother to understand the problem and need to review it manually first to plan a little, which I think is actually a good thing
