question to younger people in tech: how do you get hired (the initial step, to a hiring manager) these days? my understanding is job applications don’t work. What does?

Im not speaking of personal experience, my situation is… complicated. But yeah that’s what my gf did/is doing (she dislike her current job and is just sending CV out hoping to find something that doesn’t have a so toxic workplace)

LLM have been nice to find job applications that fitted her experience and education, but were worded in a way that traditional search did not pick it up for her. But that’s not really a catalyst, it’s just that she’s aware of more opportunities, but everyone does so you need to send more.
