I have to go with insulin. A brilliant pharmacologist I worked with has type 1 diabetes. He worked his whole career to develop and research life saving heart arrhythmia treatments. Insulin saved his life and the lives of countless others who contribute to the betterment of humanity.

Polio vaccine from the same place insulin came from. Connaught labs. U. of T. and now Sanofi. Connaught Medical Research Laboratories was a non-commercial public health entity established by Dr. John G. FitzGerald in 1914 in Toronto to produce the diphtheria antitoxin.

James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, was Canadian born, but developed the game while living in Massachusetts, and later coached for the University of Kansas. The US and Canada were close friends for generations, and I hope that after we kick Trump's ass to the curb, we can be friends again.🇺🇸🇨🇦

Insulin. Not just because it continues to save lives, but because they literally gave the patent away. Sold for just $1 so that it could save millions of lives. Before insulin, those with type 1 diabetes had a life expectancy of less than 3 years.

I was gonna say Poutine, but I'm pretty sure that was invented by the Belgians. The UK version is chips(!) and very bad curry sauce that looks like gravy. Don't try and convince us you invented Basketball.

🫠 OK... but I didn't say anything about fries, did I? What I said was: "Belgians (as far as anyone knows with any certainty) have never invented anything of note." I can't imagine even feigning interest in a museum exhibit focused on fried potato. 🍟
