Finally done. I was able to talk with @pfrazee.com, as well as a handful of other folks with insight on the situation. #atmosphereconf trezy.com/blog/the-mar...

Something has been eating away at me for a while even before this... the Germ button. Although it's cool, why has it taken until *now* to start showing additional services on your profile, and why is it still only Germ... a closed-source iOS-only app. Something has always felt off about that.

Graze was one of their first integrations. The “Happening Now” cards you may have seen for things like the Super Bowl were a direct integration with Graze feeds. I think Germ makes sense as an integration, too. Bluesky wanted E2EE for DMs, and Germ provides a good, if siloed, option for that.

tbf, an integration before Germ was also the "Go Live" feature allowing Streamplace. But the Germ button is more in-your-face. I've aired this before too, but Germ currently (closed source, limited platforms) kinda isn't really in the spirit of Atproto and it surprised me it was the first

It’s a difficult balancing act. There are /a lot/ of apps in the Atmosphere. How do you choose to support pckt, Leaflet, or Offprint without pissing the others off?

The insight I got from Leaflet (mentioned in the article) shows Bluesky is interested in integrations, but it takes something like Standard.site for them to make sense.

standard.siteStandard.site - One schema. Every platform.Standard.site provides shared lexicons for long-form publishing on AT Protocol. Making content easier to discover, index, and move across the ATmosphere.
