Created a local sync thing and rclone mesh network for all the friends and family laptops I’ve saved from the dumpster over the years. Maybe putting yggsdrasil on it too. Might do a prima.cpp setup to see if it works, then use that distributed trash LLM for something useless, or trash-oriented.

I really appreciate your articles on DeGoogling and buying European. I think it's helpful to have as many authoritative resources for individuals wanting to join this movement, as well as pointing people in the right direction for things they are passionate about

I’ve migrated almost ALL of my services to privacy respecting services in the EU. Proton VPN, Tuta and inbox.eu email, Hetzner web hosting, Filen for cloud hosting, and a couple of self hosted things!

Moving towards privacy-focused services is a smart step. 🔐 Control over your data, reliable hosting, and secure infrastructure matter more than ever. A good hosting setup should give you both performance and peace of mind. 🚀

➤ Librewolf ➤ Ecosia ➤ OsmAnd+ ➤ LibreOffice with ODF formats whenever possible ➤ Transitioning towards Linux ➤ KeePassXC Password Manager ➤ Proton Pass & Proton VPN ➤ DeepL ➤ VSCodium & Theia

I switched to Kubuntu Linux from Windows as my main home PC about one year ago, and I could not imagine going back! Since then I have been trying to help ease as many of my friends into trying Linux as possible!

I have chosen to delete Instagram , have been off tik tok since Elon musk borrowed money from Saudi Arabia to purchase and rename it x. I’m currently only using Firefox, but will be moving to Duck Duck Go. I don’t use Alexa, ring, or safari, or Siri. I love real art.

Search: Qwant Cloud storage: Koofr Mail: Tuta Maps: HERE WeGo Translate: DeepL Microblogging: Eurosky + @mu.social (once the Android app is released) Next steps: switch to Linux Mint and try LibreWolf (currently using Firefox).

I've been slowly moving all my stuff over to tuta I mean my emails and Vivaldi has been by far the best browser experience I've ever had. I had transitioned to ddg a while ago but I might move onto startpage in the future. Certainly I will be moving over to tuta drive when that becomes available.

Google/Apple logins to regular email logins Minimize Google use, starting w/ mail and calendar. Tuta drive next. Dumb down smart TV by disconnecting it from the internet, use local antena and physical media instead. Streaming alternatives tbd. And after this post moving from Bsky to Mastadon.

I maintain/repair older machines & peripherals to preserve ppl's options amidst ominous centralization of compute capacity. And I never buy/rec anything that needs cloud connection to function, which is a major forced obsolescence & stealth AI training problem in plotter-cutter & 3DP ecosystems.

Deleting my google account. Using libreoffice and my dear Ubuntu. Eurosky for social media and I’m good to go. Only the smartphone stays Android. Alternatives are not great yet/easy to use/install…

I use tuta mail and calendar, and I am trying to leave Gmail. Browser Mullvad, with also Mullvad VPN, and duck duck go on my mobile. LibreOffice as word processor. Qwant as search engine.

Went from gmail to tuta, from google drive to proton drive, from windows to linux mint. Cancelled my netflix and apple tv and setup jellyfin on my nas. Next i want to replace my android phone to jolla linux. And need to delete bluesky and only use mastodon 😄

Went from Gmail to Infomaniak (mail and calendar and cloud storage), from Windows to Linux Mint. Went from Spotify to Tidal (is there a European alternative that's not Spotify?). Impatiently waiting for my Jolla Phone to arrive. Thanks for letting me know about Jellyfin...
