An earlier revision of the article mistakenly stated that variable fonts did not work well with this technique, when (happily) the opposite is true! My fault for crossing some wires during technical review, corrected now.

This is cool, but in my first attempt to play around with it, it doesn’t seem to play well with text that’s linked. Have you noticed that? Any workarounds?

I haven’t personally, and throwing an anchor in (or around) my demo seems to work as I’d expect. Can you elaborate?

Sorry, I should have been more descriptive! I put together this reduced case. The text decoration on the link takes on the color of the stroke. Is that consistent with what you’ve seen? codepen.io/editor/segde...

Thanks for the clarification! I’m relieved to see the link is still functional, it’s really more about the `text-decoration` taking on the style of the stroke. That is consistent with what I’ve observed, and I can sort of understand the logic of it (though I wish there were a spec to refer to)
