So @mariepoulin.com just announced that she was leaving her twitter account as well and people are already saying she's "insane" for "abandoning" 40K followers. We really should normalize it being okay to let go of things, even at their height.

Also, we could not find the link anywhere on X to cancel her premium account. They've literally removed it. We spent 30 minutes trying every device and then we found a link on Reddit to a hidden page that allows you to manage your account. Nasty business.

Interesting thread. Had a similar feeling about Starter Packs. Option to "Approve" being added to starter packs might be good. On some level, this idea equating "connecting with the most people possible" as "success" is what got us into this mess in the first place. bsky.app/profile/polo...

Something has been nagging me for a bit, and it just crystalized. I'm concerned about my level of follower growth. I've gone from 6K to 11K in the last month, and I haven't done anything. I'm not sure it's the right thing to shove this much attention at people who didn't actually ask for it.

I think it might be helpful to address this, as I had 40k followers on Twitter. "That's crazy, why would she do that?" For the last year, maybe year and a half I have experienced a *substantial* drop in engagement, as well as a massive increase in spam outreach on my account.
