I genuinely can't wait for the early 2020's design minimalism trend to die. Who's designing maximal UI? Bright colors, lots of text instead of "hover-discovery"-ux. Show me all my data instead of "..." everywhere. Absolutely no "•••" menus allowed. Show me everything. MAX! ♾️

I’ve been a designer for nearly 20 years, a minimalist both in life and in design. I’ve worked with major brands in fashion, art, and corporate sectors, where minimalism, typography, and whitespace management are key. Minimalism isn’t a trend—it’s about balance between aesthetics and function.

As someone who mostly browses the web on a computer I really hate the mobile first designs. Websites used to have multiple columns and sidebar menus when we had 1024px wide 17" screens. Now I have 27" with over 5000 pixels and all the content is in one giant column.

No, not really. I'm not much of a fan of showing all the text and all the data :) Especially for product design (web, apps), I feel this is too complex and takes too long to understand the interface. I do dislike the sameness in all minimalistic UI's though.
