Stupid goo goo nonsense. The only way to get fair districting is to pinch republicans in the mouth enough until they agree to fairness. Doing this with Callais days away from ripping up the VRA is so stupid I don’t know where to begin.

no actually, “we gerrymander as revenge for their gerrymander” is the bad stuff. if you can’t win with a level playing field, tilting the field is not a long- or even medium-term solution (and nationalizing state politics is also bad)

There's an easy solution: A bipartisan federal law requiring fair districting with oversight from a neutral (nonpartisan/bipartisan) team. …The Republicans won't go for it; they'd lose too many of their advantages. They don't want districts that accurately represent the state's population.

Democrats win with a level playing field. They don't win if the Republicans get to tilt it to meet their interests, and Democrats don't get to tilt it back. There's no way to make this level without support from SCOTUS. And this SCOTUS is not, apparently, interested in equitable representation.

hmm, how do we fix scotus? will gerrymandering help with that?

Yes - because the House can impeach federal judges, including SCOTUS judges. And while a majority-R Senate is not likely to convict, judges might step down rather than having their record dragged into public view. Especially if it might open the way for lawsuits or criminal charges.

electing a dem president who’ll nominate some new judges is a hell of a lot easier and more likely than “a seven-seat dem house majority votes to impeach clarence thomas, and despite facing no chance of conviction he willingly resigns”

We can do both. All seats are in play. Like. Do you not understand that we can be fucking DONE with this shit in November? We can be. We can fucking end this shit.

Okay I know you worked for 538 but it's simple. Two thirds majority and an electorate hungry for blood means we win. Means we get impeachments and the bully pulpit. Means we get to make sure Bannon Trump has 10k left in his account by the time it is done. Get it?

Also speaking from experience? If you're on Adderall, from the way you're posting? You need to do a self check. Hydrate. Snack. Maybe sleep if you need to. You are getting dunked on repeatedly and not comprehending why. You are not firing on all cylinders. I take 20mg twice daily. Trust me.

i am getting “dunked on repeatedly” by a bunch of well-meaning, low-informations people who are convinced that the dems winning a majority in the house this november will end fascism forever, and therefore it *must* happen by any means necessary—for some, including installing one-party democrat rule
