Whatever the motivations, it's lazy for people to demand "Rails Core team to hard fork Rails and associated projects" when all they offer in return is "pledge to support and cheerlead it to the best of our ability, and will make efforts to change our Rails code to use it at the earliest opportunity"

Especially when the signatories could do the hard fork themselves if they wanted to, and especially when most of the signatories have, so far, not listed any project they are affiliated with that runs on Rails. Activism doesn't happen by demanding other people do things, it happens by doing things.
