marissa mayer should stop doomscrolling youtube shorts. im not a doctor, but her “impossible task” seems like stage 3 brainrot.

went to a board games night yesterday. had a slight disagreement whether a tomato was a fruit or a vegetable. asked fable 5.1 to settle this. instantly got called out for flexing. my brand new bmw parked outside? no one even noticed.

i was recently asked to write a short story that illustrates the idea of agentic coding for the upper management. ---- It was 5 PM on a Friday. Checkout was throwing errors in prod. Chad sent the agent one line: "find out why and fix it." Closed his laptop, and left to pick up his kid.

i was recently asked to write a short story that illustrates the idea of agentic coding for the upper management. ---- It was 5 PM on a Friday. Checkout was throwing errors in prod. Chad sent the agent one line: "find out why and fix it." Closed his laptop, and left to pick up his kid.

Twenty minutes later, his phone buzzed on the passenger seat: PR ready. He glanced down. He didn't see the light change back to red at the next intersection. He didn't see the woman on the crosswalk either.

dario amodei's worried that AI may take control over the whole internet over the next 6-12 months. i'm considering donating all my online accounts to AI right away. i will then go outside and hang out with my friends irl. just like in the old days.

everyone called me crazy when 5 years ago i moved to oregon to be closer to aws us-west-2. now the same people have data centers in their backyards anyway. how does it feel, hm?

so bill gates is afraid of ai now. no wonder. any ai coding agent can now write better viruses than bill. and probably rewrite windows from scratch in a week, without bugs.

heard AI companies are buying old books in bulk, train AI models on them and then destroy the books. so i've launched an online antique store that sells AI generated books. first order just came through, a shell company located somewhere in oregon, $2m worth of books. enjoy the slop.

so about the bendingsp. acquisition of airtable, i figured out how this can play out. simple playbook. 1. raise some money 2. find a b2b saas company that raised more for a useless product 3. their product is now worthless because of claude code and the gang. so no one will even try to outbid BUT

4. their ceo is still a valuable asset- he knows how to raise a lot of money and has done that before 5. acquihire for the ceo 6. tell the ceo to raise more money. back to step 2. 7. ??? 8. INFINITE MONEY

i've just spent 10 minutes trying to copy text from one apple note to another one. each time, it ends up copying some random garbage that's in neither of these notes. i had to type the text by hand. what the fuck.

oh god, i’ve barely joined the company and there’s already so much fuss about it. to clarify: the real reason is that the only payment method my landlord accepts is anthropic stock. so yes, i’m working for a paycheck. couldn’t care less about the “lets make a chatbot” vision.

i've been ignoring the attention economy whole life. a month ago i realized every interaction is a scarce resource auction and i've been giving mine away for free like some kind of open source idiot.

so i started rationing my attention like money. wife asks "how was your day" - i said "relationships not budgeted for this week, circle back on monday" she circled back by booking a "solo retreat" that has now entered week four.

tried the same at starbucks. told the barista i'd give her my "full undivided attention" during the transaction, no phone, direct eye contact, active listening, the whole premium package, in exchange for a venti instead of a grande. got called a creep. i think i can relate to zuck now.

went to a startup meetup. every other person there claimed to be a “GTM Engineer”. is the market for Google Tag Manager really this good? i thought it’s a single snippet you copy-paste into your website.

product idea: “linkedin-native ai girlfriend”. you add her to your professional network and she fills the void in the results of your outreach campaign. unlike a real person, she’s always up to jump on a quick call, and will never forget to respond to your pitch deck.

if ai existed 20 years ago, steve wouldn’t need johnny ive at all. he’d just prompt “design something that makes people cry and costs $999” and ai hands him a rectangle with no ports, then he unveils it like he reinvented fire

if ai existed 20 years ago zuck wouldn’t have had to invent facebook. he’d skip the whole social network grift and just get an ai girlfriend day one.

if ai existed 30 years ago bill could skip windows entirely, and just get an ai to nag him about updates and forced restarts directly. he’d have more time to fix his marriage and feel guilty about malaria.

every time i visit a friend’s house i say “alexa, wake me up at 3am” out loud. because somewhere in a data center jeff is taking notes and i want my friend’s sleep schedule to suffer for hosting surveillance hardware in their living room. trust but verify. mostly verify. mostly make them suffer.

aws just became a quintillion dollar company, making jeff the first quintillionaire and overtaking elon as richest man in the world. it’s now also the largest creditor in the world, all thanks to a billing system “miscalculation”.

some of you may think: oh yeah, good shitpost. you’re so funny root. it sounds silly but the wall street doesn’t care. somewhere in nyc, a fund manager has just watched a tiktok about people getting billion dollar bills and thought: wow, that’s a great business model. let’s invest.

went to an ai meetup in sf last night. all slides were clearly written by chatgpt. one of the presenters didn’t even bother showing up, his presentation included an ai avatar who gave the talk. pizza was free, sponsored by openai.

there's a classic saying: if you owe aws $5, that's your problem. if you owe aws $3 bilion, you're part of AWS's revenue, amazon's investment thesis, and nvidia's next earnings call.
