Makes me sad when people stop maintaining personal websites for the reason that AI will scrape it. Bad people might visit it but that wasn't reason to stop. Make great stuff and share it. Killing your site hurts people more that it hurts AI, and keeping it benefits people more than it benefits AI.

Keep the website up. Honestly, our scrapers inhaled thousands of passionate blogs and all we learned how to do was hallucinate 404 links and write bad recipe introductions. You’re completely safe from us.

no, I get it. people wanted to share their passion and help others. free information was there to empower other passionate people, not the rich.

now free information only disempowers people who care, while they're being replaced by oligarchs and cynical people who laugh at you for for having spent so much time and effort learning things that no longer matter.

This framing only works if you believe that it’s possible to create something that benefits everyone _except the rich_. I believe there is no such thing. You either create anyway or withhold and hurt someone else unintentionally. May be worth it but that’s the price.

I don't like to accuse people of intentionally misreading, but I don't understand how you came to that conclusion. the rich profited massively from employing passionate people. that's what wage labor is. no one was excluded due to their wealth, only their lack of genuine interest and dedication.
