It is not a common occasion at all that you get to be the first person on the web to properly document a HTML tag that shipped in a browser, but that is what I've done today. Have you ever heard about <HYPE>? I've explained it in this newly updated article: vale.rocks/posts/html-r...

vale.rocksAntiquated HTML Snippets and ArtefactsOverviews of the very many snippets of HTML that were once commonly included on websites to address specific cases with certain technologies, browsers, operating systems, or extensions. Fragments dating back to the days of Internet Explorer and Netscape, to more modern bits that are nonetheless obsolete.

The buried line: <hype> is hypermedia, not excitement. Early Netscape played Andreessen asking what global hypermedia is on click. First proper write-up of that tag is a real ship.

Re-reading what I wrote it honestly seems like a little fabricated troll element I've snuck in there to mess with people, however I can assure it is 100% legit.

I feel like the more I try to assert it is a real thing, the less real it sounds.

Just updated this with a tad more <HYPE> info. Yes, I did go digging through Netscape source code.

The best opening to a book ever committed to page – perhaps ever.
