starting to think that going to church every sunday was actually a good thing for society, not because of any religious part of it but just because the fabric of society was apparently held together with potlucks and weekly communal gatherings man

idk i am mostly just thinking about how good for "walls are closing in" brain it's been to be at a community centre once a week now. even if you're not interacting with a ton of folks it's grounding to be around people in that way.

Another reason it's happened is because most people are working multiple jobs not on a normal 9-5 so they don't have Time to do stuff ice cream socials. We lost a lot of the unpaid, unrecognized labor of stay at home moms when society decided everyone needs to work

I worked for 5 years 6pm to 630 am and making time do do things with folks on regular 1st shift was genuinely hard even on my days off(3.5 days/week) Also you're expected to move to get any advancement as no one promotes from within and so you gotta swap jobs every 3 years if you want good comp.
