NEW: I spoke with current and former EA employees to understand how the latest layoff round played out and the realities of daily life at the U.S. publisher. The short version? EA is controlled by an executive class that "cannot fail, only be failed." Workers, then, will always pay the price.

"I don't want to work at this place anymore:" EA workers decry mismanagement and corporate greed after mass layoffs Current and former EA employees paint a bleak picture of daily life at one of the video game industry's most prominent publishers

my point was that it's been a banner year for being disappointed by your heroes and i think the only takeaway is to just live your life in a way where you never make someone feel that way about you

unless they are pro AI in which case you should constantly make them feel like they are in the toilet

I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

"unable to complain" is just so, SO telling, to me

John Michonski@john.gamesline.net

Reading this Famitsu interview Uchikoshi did and it seems that the reason the Crash Keys game was canceled was because *Uchikoshi* wanted to use AI, not the publisher. This snippet is driving me nuts. Makes all the posturing with Hundred Line read extremely shallow.

White supremacists at the Legislature. A Nazi flag in Saanich. I am horrified & heartbroken for BC’s marginalized communities. We stand with everyone targeted by this hate, and will fight tirelessly for a province where everyone can live a safe, dignified life.

not understanding brazilian portugese but seeing "filho da puta" on my timeline repeatedly and relishing it anyway

guys the same phrase in french shares 90% of the letters i know what it means lol, i wasn't actually asking i was making a goof about being happy for my brazilian friends

ive had it on repeat for almost 2 days now and it's really fucking good it's the most interesting (to me) their songwriting has been yet i also really wish it didn't often sound like i was listening to it through a $20 pair of JVC headphones

[looking at a transfemme couple] "So, which one of you is the 'I like BE NOT AFRAID' one?"

i'm no stranger to loudness war stuff and i think it's a really effective overwhelming tool to deploy but there's a lotta songs on BE NOT AFRAID that have some really thrilling stuff wholly drowned out by clipping. kind of a bummer !

there continues to be good news in the world and i am doing my best to hold it closer to my heart than the anxieties that won't leave. congrats, brazil !

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

first F1 race i catch in a while, been pretty busy these last months, and boy howdy that was a snoozer

If the B.C. election result stings for you tonight, remember that this province once forced a majority government to back down on a tax it had just brought in. A new government still answers to the same people who hired it.

Very much this.

My first thought this morning? Victoria and Vancouver will need to work together to counter the cuts and setbacks that are coming. Harm reduction, non-market housing finance, housing density, etc, are all on the chopping block. @seanorr.bsky.social @lucymaloney.bsky.social Let’s hold the line.

i need to log off for the night or the day man i can't handle reporting on this stuff like it just "happens" and not like the thing that's going to materially affect everyone's life for the worst

hug your loved ones, man. it's going to be a rough four years.

Justin McElroy 🇨🇦@jmcelroy.bsky.social

IT'S OFFICIAL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 93 YEARS, THE B.C. CONSERVATIVE PARTY WILL LEAD THIS PROVINCE CBC IS PROJECTING A MAJORITY GOVERNMENT LORNE DOERKSON GOES FROM AN UNKNOWN MLA TO THE NEXT PREMIER OF BRITISH COLUMBIA IN FIVE WEEKS

if eby doesn't immediately resign i am expecting pitchforks in the street by morning because it's hard to imagine a canadian politician fucking everyone over this hard this fast for literally no reason

sorta not excited about potentially having to adjust to "my medications aren't covered anymore" and "our precious forests are to be fracked" overnight because one very tall man can't read tea leaves for shit

[looking at a transfemme couple] "So, which one of you is the 'I like BE NOT AFRAID' one?"

i'm not done listening through it for my first time so idk but it IS making me REALLY happy i am not on music forums anymore because the exposure to that would turn me into a kaczynski-esque monster

Hello fellow BC-ers. I know it's annoying we have ANOTHER election we have to vote in this weekend and that the NDP have been pretty ineffectual so far. But I honestly think if the Conservatives win, things will be so much worse. Regardless of how you feel and the party you support, please VOTE!

being gay, apparently, is being told that you putting ketchup on your hotdogs (NOT MY PREFERRED DURGER, FOR THE RECORD) is something she'll "just have to live with" or whatever
