Peahen. No, really.

I want to be clear: peahen isn’t a politically correct term or a joke. It’s the actual name for the female of the species. They’re boring looking (certainly by comparison) so most folks have only heard of peacocks and think that’s the name for the whole species, but it’s just the males.

I think it's just that people treat it the same way we use "men" and "women". When people say "man kind" they really mean all humans. Is it sexist? Yeah. Should we change it? I think so. But you know.

Words already exist. Humanity and Humankind.
