@jensimmons.bsky.social @saron.bsky.social @jondavis.bsky.social I'm running into an issue with webkit on iOS 26, trying to have a fixed image behind the whole page. The status bar and address bar always turn opaque and there doesn't seem to be any way to position a fixed element behind them.

I am using `viewport-fit=cover` which, to me, should opt-out my website from these behaviors, as I am explicitly saying "please layout my site behind the browser chrome and system notches, and let me deal with ensuring my content is not obscured." I'll try to get gifs showing the desired effect.

Basically, I'm looking for a way to display a fixed position element behind the floating browser chrome, but from my testing it seems like fixed position elements cause the browser chrome to have an opaque background.
