Repost if $30k would change your life right now

Matt Darling@besttrousers.bsky.social

I don't think $30k is a life-changing amount of money. Median American born in 1980 will have $2m in income in their lifetime. It's a 1% increase in earnings.

TikTok has incredible moderation team. Our InfoWars video about Multiple Horse Theory — the idea that there are many horses in the world and not just one — has been fully deemed misinformation and lost the formal appeals process. Confirmed by Larry Ellison: There is only one horse on Earth.

Tim Swindle cryarsing about AI disclosure being a scarlet letter lets slip something significant here, because if AI was all that slop jockeys claim it was, then surely such a disclosure would be a mark of pride, even a selling point! Surely people would be clamouring for AI games. But they're not.

And @strange.website nails the key point: it doesn’t matter if so-called AI “works.” What matters is that the value of your labor goes down, and workers are pushed further into precarity. Of course, what *really* matters is what we collectively decide to do about that. henry.codes/writing/it-d...

henry.codesIt doesn’t matter if it worksUltimately, whether LLMs "work" as a technology or not doesn't matter. The widespread adoption and deployment should be regarded firstly as a threat to the labor force.

@gooseworx.bsky.social made a pretty cool show. We're only on episode 4, but y'all should check out "The Amazing Digital Circus" :) the animations in particular are really well done, I think Kevin Temmer was on it, anddoes great stuff!

I am using `viewport-fit=cover` which, to me, should opt-out my website from these behaviors, as I am explicitly saying "please layout my site behind the browser chrome and system notches, and let me deal with ensuring my content is not obscured." I'll try to get gifs showing the desired effect.

Rich of the New York Times to talk about being anti-science.

In Opinion “Reasonable people can disagree on what should be done to limit the effects of climate change,” writes Kate Marvel, who last month quit her job at NASA researching the future of Earth’s climate. “But rather than debate policy, the administration has chosen to attack science itself.”

1. A new study claims trans care worsens mental health. It is fatally flawed. It didn't measure mental health—it measured psych visits. Even visits that stemmed from mandatory checkins, surgical pre-psych evals, or pre-treatment that was classified as post. Subscribe to support our journalism.

erininthemorning.comFact Check: New Finnish "Study" Does Not Prove "Trans Youth Care Leads To Worse Outcomes"The latest Kaltiala study is filled with fatal methodological flaws, and does not support claims made about trans youth care lacking efficacy.

Okay, clearly y'all love colour games, so with millions of plays on jnd & jnd-hard thought I'd dust off and polish up the _original concept_. Hue shift: www.keithcirkel.co.uk/hue-shift/?r... Drag one colour to match the other, 10 seconds to do it. You know the drill. Make me proud gang.

@cferdinandi.bsky.social it is always a good day when I search the web for a topic and find one of your pages in the results. There is so much AI garbage and SEO spam listicles and shallow, bloated comparison articles now, and it makes me incredibly happy to read your words written with real intent.

This is a cliff on comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. It's about 1 km tall. If you jumped from the top, it would take you 47 minutes to reach the bottom, and you'd probably be OK.
