ok Bluesky people, here´s a challenge for you: 4.5M people have switched to this Norwegian AI-free browser and said "enough is enough" to Big Tech and its user-tracking AI-down-everyone's-throats-malpractices. Can we make it to 5M before 2026 is over? 😌 🙏

which corners? You can edit the roundness of corners on Settings > Themes, then select your current theme > Editor > Settings and you should see a slider that says "corner rounding"

That only changes buttons and stuff for me (ironically things I'd prefer to keep rounded), I still get these ugly and distracting corners when I have a window maximised :(

AI: Vivaldi's edge is customization: vertical/stacked tabs, tab tiling, built-in mail, calendar and RSS, notes, and deep UI and shortcut tweaks. Brave focuses on ad/tracker blocking and crypto; Opera on a sidebar, VPN and AI; Waterfox on Firefox-based privacy. Vivaldi is Chromium-based, like Brave.

Vivaldi is Chromium. Also a deal breaker to me. bsky.app/profile/tomm... Good blocking of trackers also important to me. Will check it out tomorrow.

Chromium is an open-source engine that's highly compatible with web standards. Many in our team built the Presto engine back when they worked at Opera, we know what it takes to build and maintain a browser engine, and trust me: it's not cheap. Using Chromium allows us to perform (1/3)

while being able to remove all the upstream stuff we don't like. It's not ideal, but neither is using Gecko, whose development is mostly financed by Google thanks to search deals. We don't make money from Google, and we're happy with that decision. (2/3)

Building on top of Chromium is not just "a reskin", but you probably already know that. Our UI is unique and developed by us, sure, but so are our features, which are not available on Chromium, such as the adblocker, the Workpaces, two-level tab stacks or infinite tab tiling, to name a few. :) (3/3)

«Chromium is an open-source engine that's highly compatible with web standards.» It's true. And it's due to Google's monopoly (a.k.a. web standards). Long story short: devs just make everything for Google Chrome and it just happens to work on #Vivaldi cuz it's the same engine.
