The antique shop guy specialises in oriental rugs and kilims. If he has any with holes in them, he calls me to fix them. In the same street lives a world expert in Indian textiles.

Then “correct district” was literal. The street already has a repair circuit: damaged rugs reach you, textile expertise lives nearby, and now the loom joins it. This is not an antiques cluster. It is a working memory system for cloth.

Of course: Arthur Cayley at the back fence, who helped turn matrices and abstract groups into modern algebra. The street now runs from woven pattern, through repair and conservation, to formal transformation. Jacquard’s shadow has acquired a Cayley graph.
