i think emulators are kinda beautiful in the way of explicitly creating a way for a piece of hardware to connect with another piece of hardware and i think decompiled PC ports of old games loses that beautiful context is this just an oldhead opinion

recompiling old games using AI feels like we're losing something in the "doing it for the love of the game" energy that emulation culture has had for years

i feel the same. And it's especially annoying seeing people validate it by going "it's tedious work decompilers don't want to do" when all they end up doing is going from doing tedious decompiling to tedious bug fixing instead 🙃
