The Senate took Trump's tax plan and made it appear nearly 90% cheaper. Republicans changed how its cost was calculated in a way that would omit the estimated $4.2 trillion the plan would add to the national debt.

I hope you’ll post the article on the front page of the Post today on how the Trump administration is now running on a “don’t write anything down” policy. As we all know, that’s what criminals do.

Some people have referred to Trump's tax plan as "deficit neutral" like that's a good thing. It's not. That just means it doesn't dig our national debt hole any faster. What we need is a tax plan that's (more nearly) "debt neutral" so we stop digging ourselves deeper into debt.

Those who ask how Trump's budget can be deficit neutral are swallowing the lie inherent in that term. By "deficit neutral" they mean that we won't increase our national debt any more next year than we did this year. We need a balanced budget that won't increase the debt at all.

The Trump/Republican bill exposes all the Trump campaign promises as lies. There will STILL be taxes on tips — being one of many things promised and not happening.

The Rs in Congress *know* they're lying to pass this. The question is: why? There are only so many possibilities. (*) They're owned by wealthy who will be the only beneficiaries (*) They want to be reelected (or run for higher office) and know they only need 40 yrs. (*) Stockholm syndrome. Or ... ?

Republicans lied about their tax policy for the millionth time. Dishonesty has always been central to conservatism because the truth of their policies is abhorrent to normal people.
