Just wait until this deferred resignation program ends Sept 30, 2025. Although it was called a "resignation", these 154,000 federal employees can all file for UNEMPLOYMENT benefits and be granted unemployment benefits. Forced resignations do not equal quitting. Make sure to file UE claims!

What does deferred resignation means? One gives notice of resignation six months ahead of time? And you expect that one will work or else gets fired and collect separation, probably proportional to length of service? And can you trust someone you know is leaving to do something important?

The DRP (Deferred Resignation Program) is what was offered to Federal employees earlier this year as a way to cut the number of employees without having to (probably illegally) fire them. People who accepted DRP left their jobs in line March or April so they are already not working. But they get

Paid till the end of the fiscal year, which starts October 1. So yes, the government is paying them full salary to not work while we, the remaining employees, are drowning under the increased workloads. So there was no expectation that they would continue to work.
