MPD 1st precinct inspector said the planned Plymouth bridge closure is for no reason other than to make it difficult for the wrong people to drive quickly through the city. bsky.app/profile/wedg...
In addition to closing 3rd Ave and Stone Arch bridges, MPD is closing Plymouth bridge because: we've found if we keep people from driving quickly through the city then they don't come to the city.
We need uniformed police leaders at press conferences advocating for street redesigns, saying things like, "if we don't slow traffic down with bumpouts, medians, and lane reductions PEOPLE WILL DIE." It could help the car culture cranks to accept the public safety purpose of it all.
