So sorry for you, it's never easy to make the difficult decision. My Bubba is 12 and his hips are going too. The same thing happened to my 12 yr. old dog that I had to put down in 2021. I cried every day for 6 months.

My Wilson was 103 lbs. So we couldn't lift him. I was lucky and found a vet that came to our home. I was glad he could spend his last moments home. They even made a paw print out of clay. I wasn't aware they were going to do that. It's nice having that. I also kept a lock of his hair.

Sometimes we have to let them go. Holding on more tightly only hurts instead of comforts. Take a few breaths. Remember the years he's given you. Relax your heart and soul and let him go. They never truly leave us.

💔 My heart goes out to you. I found it much easier to have an at-home vet come. They will come and evaluate the situation and will come back when it’s time. With Tobey having mobility issues, this may be the kindest path. (Molly is patiently waiting for Tobey to join her. It will be OK. ✨)

No shame in that. I had to have someone else make the call and the appointment, and even drive for me with my kitty Misty almost 10 years ago, and it still aches to think of her not being here. Just try and remember you're doing it for him, and to ease his pain and discomfort. ❤️

This is Douglas too. He is coming to terms with the addition of my new grandchild Ivy to his household along with my grandson Jack. I’m sure he will adjust
