The two worlds I bridge - tech and news - both have invite-only unconferences. I've never been invited to either Foocamp or Newsgeist, and I'm choosing to weave this into an outsider artist persona. But also: Foocamp led to Barcamp, which is deliberately open. What's the open Newsgeist?

Same and same. Never been good at getting invited to stuff, and it's fine.

Same and same. Is Barcamp still running?

And maybe, not exactly open, but SRCCON?

I think it’s probably our closest equivalent, right?

I think so! And maybe ONA, but I stopped going to those as they have become more journalist focused and I've become more business focused, as I found it less useful.

Damn, now I feel uncool for having been invited to Foocamp (never been though). At least I still have not being verified by Bluesky going for me.

Same. I used to be bothered by it. Now, I realize most of us haven't and we're not just saying the same things to the same audiences all the time. Kind of refreshing…

ZeitungsSpirit? It's like Spirit Halloween only more horrifying because it's all news
