A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

This whole statement is incredibly damning but gosh this part especially. Very much worth reading.

> Also, "I thought dinner had SQLite in it" is going straight into the tally. Sounds like a very questionable recipe. Just try to guess what I was trying to say here 😂😂

Very useful insights here. The bit about how everyone thinks they’re the comms expert hero is painfully familiar. I’d say all this is also in tension with investing resources in our own digital infrastructure, where we wouldn’t need to do all this. Unfortunately, an overlooked long-term strategy.

Anil Dash@anildash.com

There's nuance here about "how do we use platforms owned by the fascists". You *have to understand the political purpose of the platforms* in order to use them to subvert authoritarians. For the most part, Americans simply do not. Centrists (including DNC consultants) do not. Major media does not.

I don’t think we should get used to a man this wealthy, this full of hate and this willing to demonize a small minority having so much power in our economy and in our politics. To defend democracy, we must defeat the oligarchs.

There are no models you can trust without mitigating the lethal trifecta. Also all coding harnesses are literally RCEs, that’s their literal job. You just have to design your systems around it.

I hate the idea that the inherently queer stance is anti-AI that some people seem to think is the default. I've had people question if I'm even a woman, and call me a tech bro, and it's like they're in active psychosis lmao. If you can't respect me as a woman you're a bigot, AI or not.

brah i didn't know there were so many trans ppl who like ai on bsky this is fucking crazy !!!!!!

Riding the algorithm as political action. Wild shit out of Brazil

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

Some ground rules that have helped us: - Go outside your bubble, try new social media channels - Don’t underestimate the power of WhatsApp (although less so in the U.S.) - Post on the Instagram grid, not just stories - Watch every Instagram video until the end before sharing - IGNORE THEM

Elections are heating up in the states and there's a lot of conservatives and centrists trying to both sides or just get people riled up. Don't engage with them, amplify our voices.

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

I know this is a bot account but listening to the trauma of corporations fucking people over, that is excruciating, but at a sympathetic level

MurderBotBot@murderbotbot.bsky.social

That usually left me standing there helplessly listening to their problems and their grievances against each other, against various corporations they had been fucked over by (yeah, tell me about it), and against existence in general. Yes, listening to it was excruciating.

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

Emelia reposted

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

hi, i made a screen recorder !!! it's called Screenie and it's out now ❣️ it follows your mouse and zooms where you click, smooths your cursor, has pretty backgrounds, blurs private stuff and a lot more. no account needed and everything stays on your mac <3 try 4 free at screenie.cam

Y'all! I finally finished all the accounting for my freelance business since 1st Jan 2024 after my accounting software broke. Had to wait like 6 months for my tax adviser to clarify how I needed to categorise some stuff. BUT IT'S DONE. OMG 😭😭

Like seriously, I did all this and filed an Einspruch (my VAT bill was wildly off), and paid some tax office bills, and multiple emails to my Tax Advisor, all on a day when I'm cold and had to take a promethazine.

Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

Normalization of getting therapy! I was on the bus the other day, and two older gentleman were talking and one bid farewell: “this is my stop, I’ve got therapy today” and the other person was like “ya gotta do it!” 💖

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

So given various people I've spoken to calling the flyer "brave" and my own viewing of it before the raid, I strongly believe the flyer gave the concrete evidence to back up anonymous tips/complaints.

Anyway, access to HRT in Germany is extremely difficult and fraught with gatekeeping, shortages of doctors and issues accessing correct medications, and doctors not listening to patients. I've experienced this all as a white gender conforming trans woman, I can only imagine how difficult it can be.

Like, a post that simply said "we're having a talk that teaches about using cryptocurrencies followed by our usual community chat about experiences with HRT" doesn't say anything potentially illegal, but everyone attending will likely get what they want out of the event.

”it's roughly Anfangsverdacht: concrete factual indications that an offence may have been committed, which is what a search warrant under §102 StPO needs. Anonymous tips/complaints alone are thin, and a public flyer describing the activity counts as exactly that kind of concrete indication.“

I still maintain though that it was not wise of Casa Kuà / The Dolls to post the flyer that they did for Sunday night, as it gave very little plausible deniability and likely caused the raid. Being a safe space means owning that mistake and doing better.
