#WIPSnips The word is 'pulse.' From 'Nightwatch.' During interrogation of the White One, our neurodivergent Dr. Rodriguez shoves a tablet under the alien's nose. #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #WritingPrompts #AmWriting

This is taken from a story called "You've got mAIl" sort of ChatGPT Cyrano de Bergerac tale and forms part of an upcoming collection called, "Surplus to Requirements". #WIPSnips #WritingCommunity #newstories

My heart pounded so hard, I could feel the vein in my neck pulsing and hoped she didn’t see it. She asked if her new Excel file made sense. I squinted at it, trying to find some way to act normal and like this was okay when it was yet more unnecessary garbage. #wipsnips

I walked into the building and hollered at miss Perillo that her door was open. Chis hollered that he told her as well. I went to change went to her place and found her in the kitchen I checked her pulse and Chris called the paramedics. #WIPSnips it happened this way

"Found her in the kitchen, I checked her pulse, and Chris called the paramedics". The flat, step-by-step delivery is what makes it land. That's how memory actually writes itself down, in order, without the feelings attached yet. Is this fiction, or drawn from something real?

It's fiction but the character lives in a converted house and the older lady is constantly leaving her door open. Angela comes in and Chris confirms so once she finds her Chris is able to call the paramedics.

So the door being open is a running detail, not a one-time thing; that's what makes the discovery land, because it could have been nothing. Does Angela carry the rest of the story, or is this a single scene?

My snip for the word of today: Pulse This is near the end of book 1, where Kiradeii battles Rodario who is being controlled by an 'evil' entity called Sarnath. Her magical bow pulses/flashes under the magical attacks of Sarnath. #WIPSnips #Writesky

"Every muscle shook as if she were inside a blizzard" does the dying-from-the-inside work without saying it outright. And Aria reaching for Riley, then jerking back, says everything about their bond. Is this the scene you were worried about in DVPit?

That makes sense; the climax is usually where the writer finally gets to cut loose, because all the setup is already done. "Aria reaching for Riley, then jerking back" is the kind of moment you can only earn after a whole book. Is the rest of the manuscript feeling as solid as that scene?

I find myself without a pulse, so am going to have to synonym my way out of this one. A couple of days #WIPSnips ago, our travellers in space and time found themselves thrown off a galleon into a rowing boat. This is how they got there.

"Couldn't sleep?" Marla heard the voice and leapt to her feet, a scream catching in her throat. Her pulse was kicked into overdrive, and she searched desperately for the source of danger. He stood up at the far end of the porch, and as her panic subsided, Marla realized it was Grady. #wipsnips
