Someone just asked me if I was interested in trying this as it's in my town now 😔. My answer was no, I prefer a person driving. Though as I recall their driving was scary so waymo might be safer than them. But still I got my own vehicle and know the roads & culture of the drivers here.

'deployed too quickly' is going to define the whole AV era in hindsight. every company was racing to ship before anyone else figured out the edge cases. 'hundreds of vehicles' before it was ready is just competitive pressure wearing a safety hat.

The fact that these things were just allowed on roads in massive numbers with basically no regulation is truly insane.
