It is nowhere in ICE's remit to be involved in Elections. This is just The Dayglo Wamkspangle's Gestapo engaging in voter suppression at the behest of their master's voice. They're acting ultra vires and should be hammered for it by Congress.

I have no issues with creating a definitive list of all US Citizens and a (free) Passport for everyone on the list. Congress should enact legislation to define the process for accurately identifying all US Citizens, the timeframe for doing so and the process for getting the IDs to everyone.

But…why? We already have that

Aren't they about to go to recess until after the elections. Their job appears to be to do nothing and profit off insider trading.

A database that will be half baked because not all states will share their voter rolls. The data scientist in me cringes.

Well this certainly ties into ICE's core mission of rounding up and detaining voters.

$5 million to buy up a bunch of commercially available, error-filled database files. As always with the Trump regime, it's hard to say whether it's a serious attempt to take control of elections or just another petty payoff to some GOP donor.

As per the 10th Amendment, states oversee their own elections and voter files. However, as SCOTUS has been recently ruling, our U.S. Constitution means less and less.
