Got drought-tolerant native Idaho perennials in the backyard. It's around 17'x17'. Will get the Idaho dry shade perennials planted next Sat. The center should eventually be 3' to 4' high. Will put a stone patio next to the garden so I can watch insects & humming birds. Duck was keeping me company.

Working early elections, I've had numerous 1st time voter registrations. That in itself isn't unusual. What's different this year, many of these are in their 30s and 40s. Something big is happening. Turnout for this midterm is huge. It's great to see people participate. #idpol #Election2026 #Idaho

*"left messages for" not from the three gentlemen that represent me in D.C that I'm sure are equally horrified by the prospect of a public execution in the United States and surely will make sure it doesn't happen.

BAIER: The president says 'SI.' Are you into SI or AI? BEZOS: I do like SI, because 'artificial' is not a very flattering thing. Like, nobody wants an artificial sweetener, artificial flavoring.

Trying to bust through the caliche layers in the backyard. Topsoil is only 3 inches. Getting ready to plant drought tolerant stuff. Gonna go with this find not being human. Otherwise, there'd be a lot of paperwork.

Locust Borer Beetle (Megacyllene robiniae) (native to Idaho), are covering my Ericameria nauseosa (Rubber Rabbitbrush) (also native to Idaho), feasting on the pollen, face down, one licking pollen off its front claws. Their coloring mimicks wasps (as seen in last picture), that also eat the pollen.

Getting ready to turn the soil over, pull weeds & plant these drought tolerant Idaho native perennials in the back yard. I'm already tired after thinking about pulling the weeds. Shocked I haven't killed the plants I bought last spring for this project. Cool enough to start now, &only one fowl left.

1/2 The boxes I shipped from Pilchuck Glass School made it home. Shipped odds and ends of cast-off glass and clay tile tessera, pebbles and broken smalti. Bundled up mosaic projects that I had started on. Excited to buy a hammer and hardie, and scrounge up a hardwood stump to hold the hardie.

2/2 If you know of anyone with a hardwood stump (preferably dried for a year) about 12" to 20" wide and around 36" tall, please let me know. Hardwood is better than softwood to hold a mosaic hardie. #Boise #art #woodworking #arborist

After a challenging & exciting eight day workshop, with long studio sessions with both figurative & literal hills to climb, I'm thankful for my cell phone that allows me to call my husband in the living room to ask if there's still fresh coffee in the pot before I get out of bed after sleeping in.

Very sad news. This is truly a loss that will be felt by so many, from every walk of life. Dolly Parton's music and philanthropy have made the world a much better place, and will continue to improve lives. She was an inspiration.

In a 2020 interview with Judy Woodruff, Dolly Parton said she is "as proud of the Imagination Library as I ever will be, anything I ever do for the rest of my life." https://to.pbs.org/4wST7CV

They have every intention to cheat and cause chaos during the midterm elections.

Scott Dworkin@dworkin.bsky.social

Markwayne Mullin told election officials that refusing to help him purge the voter rolls could mean prison. His department had a list of 15,903 names. A computer made that list. Nobody had finished checking it. Nevada got them on a video call and pressed record.

Regular gas is now $4.59 a gallon at my station. Up over $.60 a gallon from 3 months ago, it went up ten cents this morning. That's money that won't be spent on restaurants, movies, clothes, trips, hotels, etc, all while expenses for those businesses go up as well. The economy is at a tipping point.

Maybe the Navy could just hang a big tarp in front of the aircraft carriers with a picture of a WW2 carrier for Trump to see.

Josh Marshall@joshtpm.bsky.social

First, this whole story is completely crazy. Trump wants to redesign already in production new class of aircraft carriers so they look more like the ones from WW2. Let's put a pin that absolute insanity. But there's an aspect of this that if anything this .. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

Horrible wildfires are devastating communities across the country, including in Washington state, where powerful blazes are burning right now. These are the communities that were promised federal money to help prevent and fight these fires. www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

Watched a hunting expedition in one of the flower pots I planted at Clairvoyant Brewery. The praying mantis got soooooo close, creeping silently along the Prince's Plume branch, but the grasshopper lived to see another day.

Following the Lockerbie bombing, Congress passed a law stating that if the government has information so troubling that it causes them to change travel or other plans, the government MUST inform any Americans who cold be impacted. Trump skipped of AF-1 without a word. Unethical. Illegal.

Where's the best place to move to with no smoke and no pollen, not constantly windy, doesn't get over 85⁰ or below 20⁰. I'd add more requirements but having trouble seeing the screen through my puffy watery eyes and my nose is running. Somebody pass the tissues.

They're laying the groundwork to challenge midterm elections.

Trump officials say they found 250,000 noncitizens on voter rolls in just four states. Those states don't know where the numbers came from, and some worry what the claims may portend for the midterms.

At College of Idaho for @hdruzin.bsky.social's presentation on White Christian Nationalism. His podcast Extremely American is available on Boise Public Radio. Tried to see the event last night in Boise at Ahavath Beth Israel synagogue, but it was packed & parking full, so drove to Caldwell tonight.

Found this Tarantula Hawk Wasp (Hemipepsis ustulat?) in its death grip in my pollinator garden, with tattered wings & broken antenna. They are solitary digging wasps that eat pollen, & paralyze tarantulas with a sting, then carry them to their burrow & lay an egg on the paralyzed spider. #Boise
